As Mayor of Pocomoke City I would like to bid you a warm welcome to The Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore!

We are a family oriented city of just under 5000 people located on the coast of Maryland on the Delmarva Peninsula. Our city rests against one of our greatest attributes, the banks of the Pocomoke River which is one of the top scenic rivers in America. Our town was founded in the early 1700’s and was incorporated in 1878.

Pocomoke is proud of the fact that we are a sub-center for commerce on the lower shore as we are home to a growing industrial park with great diversity currently playing host to defense contractors, aerospace engineering and plastics fabrication. We are also strategically located very near The Wallops Island Flight Facility in Wallops Island Virginia.

We are an ideal community in which to raise a family. Children can easily walk or ride their bikes from one of our many neighborhoods to our award winning Blue Ribbon Schools, boasting numerous state championship sports and fabulous after-school programs. In 2009 we were recognized for the second time as one of only 15 finalists in the nation-wide All-America Cities competition, a distinction that is another source of great pride for our city.

Come and enjoy one of our many scenic attractions that make up our downtown area and are putting us well on our way to becoming the crown jewel of the shore for regional history. Take a stroll along our ½ mile River Boardwalk, explore our Nature Trail which begins in Cypress Park, a park complete with pavilions, restrooms, a children’s playground and a new outdoor amphitheater.

Pay a visit to our Farmer's and Flea Market that is open on Friday and Saturday mornings. A source of great excitement for us is the opening of our new riverfront restaurant, a boat accessible dining facility in the middle of our downtown area. As you take in the many historic homes that line our city streets you will no doubt pass our State of the Art Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Company and our Community Center. Construction was completed in 2010 and it has already played host to many of the events and fundraisers that take place annually in Pocomoke.

Take in a movie or a show at The Historic MarVa Theater, capture the very essence of our history with a tour of The Delmarva Discovery Center and learn about what makes Pocomoke City and the surrounding areas so very special. Visit one of our two museums rich in local flavor, The Sturgis One Room Schoolhouse and The Costen House.

Be sure to see our fairgrounds, home to our annual Great Pocomoke Fair and numerous tractor pulls. No day would be complete without a round of golf at Winter Quarters Municipal Golf Course, our riverside nine-hole golf facility. We also have many area restaurants that are just waiting to serve you dinner. Whatever brings you to Pocomoke City, Maryland, we hope you enjoy your time here and find your own reason for calling Pocomoke City “a great place to visit and a wonderful place to live.
